Which Surfboard Should I Hire in Noosa?

Noosa is famous for its long, mellow point breaks — it's longboard heaven. Here's a quick guide to picking the right board:

Foam Softboards (6ft–9ft) — Best for beginners. If you've never surfed before or are still finding your feet, start with a foam softboard. The extra volume makes it easier to paddle and catch waves, and the soft material is forgiving if you take a tumble near other surfers. Noosa Main Beach and Little Cove are ideal spots.

Epoxy Surfboards (6ft–9ft) — Best for intermediate surfers. Lighter and more responsive than foam, epoxy boards are great if you've got some experience and want a bit more performance. They work well across Noosa's point breaks at Tea Tree Bay and First Point.

Longboards — Best for cruising Noosa's points. Noosa's point breaks at First Point and Tea Tree Bay were made for longboards. If you can already surf and want to experience Noosa the way the locals do, hire a longboard. You'll have the time of your life.

Best Surf Spots in Noosa

Noosa has some of the most iconic waves in Australia — here's where to head depending on your level:

Noosa Main Beach — long, slow rolling waves perfect for beginners and longboarders. Plenty of room and easy beach access. Great starting point if it's your first time surfing Noosa.

First Point — the jewel of Noosa. Long, peeling right-handers that longboarders dream about. Best in a small to medium north or northeast swell. Can get crowded but the vibe is relaxed.

Tea Tree Bay — a step up from First Point. More powerful and a bit more technical, great for intermediate to experienced surfers.

Sunshine Beach — a beach break that handles bigger swells. More punch than Noosa Main, good for shortboarders and experienced surfers when the swell is up.

Little Cove — sheltered, quiet and rarely crowded. Waves rarely get above waist to chest high which makes it perfect for beginners or a mellow morning surf.
